Robert Andersen has three decades of experience representing major private and public sector clients in a wide range of environmental, energy, natural resources, and government contracts matters, by providing legal and policy advice and litigation services. His recent practice has focused upon complex environmental cleanups, natural resources remediation, and the licensing, siting, permitting, and construction of energy, utility, and commercial projects in compliance with environmental requirements. Robert's advisory, compliance, due diligence, and litigation services cover the broad spectrum of laws related to water, air, toxics, hazardous waste, and natural resources preservation. Since the terrorist attacks of 9/11/2001, Robert has assisted water suppliers, utilities, power generators, and industrial entities in meeting obligations under homeland security laws. He also has significant government experience including service as Chief Counsel of the United States Army Corps of Engineers; Special Assistant to the United States Attorney General; inaugural General Counsel of the Defense Nuclear Facility Safety Board; Deputy General Counsel of the National Science Foundation and Senior United States Representative in Antarctica; and Deputy Regional Counsel of EPA, Region V.
 

Argued 2007 NEPA appeal in DC Circuit, allowing Kentucky TransPark to continue construction and development despite environmental challenges.
 
Defended use of activated dredge material and other recyclable waste in major mine reclamation challenged in Pennsylvania administrative hearings.
 
Secured license transfers for nuclear plants and waste storage facilities from NRC.
 
Conducted complex environmental and national security due diligence reviews during sale of hydropower and nuclear assets.
 
Assisting Winergy Power, LLC, in securing appropriate permits and approvals for offshore wind energy projects on the east coast.
 
Designed cradle-to-grave waste management systems and pollution controls for bases in Antarctica - measures approved by the President and funded by Congress.
 
Provided legal advice to Corps of Engineers on environmental restoration work such as the Everglades and Louisiana coastal restorations; nine billion dollars worth of military and civil construction worldwide each year; response to the terrorist attacks on 9/11/2001; and major federal civil litigation involving the nation's waterways.
 
Wrote legal guidance and provided support to the decontamination and decommissioning of defense reactors and other nuclear facilities in the DOE complex.
 
Served as Special Assistant to the United States Attorney General for trial and appeal of national security litigation while General Counsel of the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board.
