Luis A. Perez's primary practice area is complex commercial litigation and arbitration both at the national and international level. Luis has developed an extensive practice in product liability and has an in-depth expertise on the subject. He was in charge of coordinating and directing the defense of hundreds of cases filed in various jurisdictions in Latin America involving individual civil actions, criminal actions, administrative claims, governmental investigations and class actions. Many of the complex cases involved multi-million dollar claims. Due to his extensive work in Latin America, he has an excellent relationship with lawyers and law firms in the Region and is frequently called upon to lend advice and counsel to clients involved in complex trials and arbitrations. He is fluent in English and Spanish and has a working knowledge of Portuguese and French.

Luis has also actively participated in various privatization projects in Latin America and has rendered advise to U.S. companies seeking to establish operations outside the U.S. He has helped establish joint ventures between companies and entities in the U.S. and Latin America.

He has spoken at various seminars and conferences in the U.S. and in Latin America, and is a frequent speaker at Tulane University School of Law, Loyola University College of Law, the University of Miami School of Law, and Florida International University School of Law. He has also made presentations at foreign law schools and commercial institutes such as Instituto Gertulio Vargas in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the Law School of the Andes in Santiago, Chile, the Bar Association of Mexico in the Federal District, the Chilean-US Chamber of Commerce in Santiago, Chile, and the Chamber of Commerce in Costa Rica.
