Samantha Abeysekera handles a wide range of employment law issues, with a concentration on wage and hour matters including class and collective action litigation before federal and state courts and the Department of Labor, as well as advice and counseling regarding overtime pay, exempt status, the calculation of hours worked, and other issues under the Fair Labor Standards Act and state wage and hour laws. Samantha also litigates single- and multi-plaintiff employment discrimination, harassment, and restrictive covenant matters before federal and state courts, administrative agencies including the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and arbitrators. In addition, Samantha defends employment actions filed by registered representatives before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. Samantha's clients include private employers in the financial services, market research, real estate, fashion, hospitality, and airline industries, as well as municipal entities.

Moreover, Samantha conducts management and employment training on equal employment, non-harassment, and wage and hour matters, and provides day-to-day advice and counseling to employers on workplace issues such as employment contracts, employee handbooks, hirings, terminations, reductions-in-force, leave management, disability and religious accommodation, and social media. Samantha also lectures on wage and hour, social media, and other employment law topics before organizations such as the Human Resources Association of New York and Association of Corporate Counsel.
