William P. Heller is the Chair of Akerman's Consumer Finance Litigation practice, representing mortgage loan originators, servicers, and investors from the firm's 15 offices and nationwide.
Bill has extensive experience defending individual and class consumer claims, including those arising under the Truth in Lending Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Fair Housing Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and those based on state fair lending, collection, and deceptive trade practice laws.
Bill also leads the Consumer Finance Litigation team's recovery practice, concentrating on repurchase litigation and on the investigation and prosecution of origination fraud while working closely with federal and state regulators and law enforcement.
