May 16, 2012
Akerman Senterfitt today announced that William Sklar, of counsel in the firm’s West Palm Beach office, was honored with the Alumni Achievement Award by the University of Miami School of Law. The award recognizes university alumni, on a national and international level, whose professional achievements and service to the communities at large have earned them the recognition of distinguished alumni.
“Bill leads by example at work and in the community, and has remained deeply involved with his alma mater where he has been teaching courses for more than 30 years,” said Eric Gordon, managing shareholder of Akerman’s Palm Beach County offices. “His commitment to inspiring and educating aspiring lawyers make him a deserving winner of the Alumni Achievement Award.”
As an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Miami School of Law and a member of the faculty of the LLM program in Real Property Development, Sklar has been teaching courses in condominium and planned development law and a related drafting and litigation workshop since 1980.
Sklar's law practice includes representation of developers and lenders in planning, drafting, and the development of residential, commercial, and complex mixed-use condominiums and planned developments. William serves as regulatory counsel in compliance matters under numerous federal, state, and local statutes, regulations, and ordinances and is Board Certified in Real Estate Law by the Florida Bar.
