Akerman Senterfitt's Rose La Femina Named Among 100 Outstanding Women of Broward County by Boys & Girls Clubs
May 31, 2012
Rose La Femina, shareholder in Akerman Senterfitt’s Fort Lauderdale office, recently was named one of the 100 Outstanding Women of Broward County by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County for accomplishments in her career, personal life and volunteer efforts. The award was conferred at a ceremony at The Signature Grand in Davie, Florida, the evening of May 16.

Among La Femina's many volunteer efforts, she is a mentor and a scholarship committee member for Women of Tomorrow, a mentoring and scholarship program for at risk teenage girls. She is a member of the board of directors and the executive and development committees of Children's Home Society of Florida. She is also the ball committee corporate liaison and past president of Children's Home Society of Florida, East Broward Auxiliary, and a member of the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Greater Fort Lauderdale/The Pride Center.

“Rose’s unstinting commitment to serve the underprivileged and vulnerable and bring about a positive change in their lives is commendable,” said David Ristaino, office managing shareholder for Akerman’s Fort Lauderdale office. “She is very deserving of this award, and is an example of the meaningful impact each of us can make in the communities where we live and work.”

La Femina is a Florida Bar board certified wills, trusts and estates attorney who focuses her practice in the areas of estate planning, trust and estates administration, probate and trust litigation, and tax. She represents business owners, corporate executives, wealthy individuals and professionals and their families with a wide-range of estate planning issues. She also works with non-traditional couples and families regarding the issues that gay and lesbian couples, as well as other individuals in nontraditional relationships, face including the legal complications associated with living together, adoption and separation.
