Akerman Senterfitt’s Neisen Kasdin Named 2012 MVP by Law360
December 7, 2012
Akerman Senterfitt today announced that Neisen Kasdin, managing shareholder of the firm’s Miami office, has been named a 2012 MVP by Law360, a leading, national publisher of online news and analysis of business law.

The Law360 MVP Awards honor attorneys whose achievements in major litigation or transactions have set a new standard for accomplishment in their area of law. It received nearly 500 total nominations, and its team of editors chose 113 lawyers in 22 practice areas as MVPs for their accomplishments between October 2011 and October 2012. Kasdin, one of six attorneys nationwide named MVPs in the Real Estate category, was recognized for his outstanding efforts to revitalize the community, helping his clients develop landmark projects that will redefine the city of Miami, as well as his leadership and mentorship within the firm.

“Neisen Kasdin is the go-to partner for companies from across the world planning urban redevelopment projects, ambitious in both size and scope,” said Andrew Smulian, chairman and CEO of Akerman Senterfitt. “He is not only deeply knowledgeable, but also extremely passionate about all aspects of real estate, be it urban revitalization;  development of transportation, retail and commercial hubs; or preservation of cultural landmarks and architectural character. We congratulate him on receiving yet another accolade for the extraordinary work he accomplishes on behalf of his clients.”

Kasdin represents clients in a wide range of transformational urban redevelopment projects including Hong Kong-based Swire Properties in the development of Brickell CitiCentre, a mixed-use, 9.1-acre, $1 billion project in downtown Miami; affiliates of Dacra Development and LVMH in the $312 million redevelopment of the Miami Design District; Argentina-based Consultatio in the $220 million purchase of 5.5 acres in Bal Harbour, including the oceanfront Bal Harbour Beach Club; and All Aboard Florida as land use counsel in the development of the passenger rail's planned Miami station.

Kasdin was previously involved in the revitalization of South Beach through his service as chair of the Community Development Corporation for South Beach and as a City Commissioner and Mayor of Miami Beach. He is Governor and Trustee of the Urban Land Institute. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the Miami Downtown Development Authority and as immediate past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the New World Symphony. Kasdin has been recognized by Chambers USA and The Legal 500 as one of the leading land use lawyers in Florida.
