Akerman Senterfitt's Felipe Berer Appointed to the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce of Florida's Board of Directors

Akerman Senterfitt today announced that Felipe Berer, of counsel with Akerman's Corporate Practice Group and a member of the firm's Latin America & the Caribbean Practice, has been appointed to the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce of Florida's Board of Directors for a one year term. The Chamber is the largest bi-national chamber of commerce in Florida and the area's leading organization linking U.S. and Brazilian business communities. The organization serves as a forum for business exchanges in order to increase trade and investments between Brazil and South Florida.

Berer has significant experience assisting U.S. and Brazil-based clients in international transactions. His practice is focused on legal, trade and regulatory matters pertaining to inbound Brazilian investment in the United States, outbound U.S. investment into Brazil, international trade law and policy in the U.S. and Brazil, international contracts, and government affairs in Brazil. Berer is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish and is licensed to practice law in Virginia and Brazil. He also serves as a Special Legal Consultant in the District of Columbia.

Berer has recently been involved in a number of Brazil-related transactions. He assisted an affiliate of Hilton Worldwide in a deal to expand its hotel management operations in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He also worked with Akerman's Corporate team in New York to represent The American Sportswear Group in a joint venture to sell Tommy Hilfiger products in Brazil.

Akerman's Latin American & the Caribbean Practice includes lawyers experienced in representing multinational clients on a wide range of cross-border mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, securities offerings, syndicated and secured lending transactions, project financings, and debt restructurings, as well as complex construction and other international disputes.
