Akerman Senterfitt was named a winner of the "Litigation Departments of the Year," a signature award special of the Daily Business Review, in the labor and employment category. The firm was one of four law firms recognized throughout the state of Florida for its "powerhouse practice." The Practice Group was featured in the article, "Akerman's Prime Goal: Keep Clients Out of the Courtroom."

The Daily Business Review recognized the Practice Group for securing several high-profile victories in the courtroom, including their representation of Carnival Corp. in a race discrimination and retaliation case; TravelPro International Inc. in a wrongful termination and gender discrimination lawsuit; and Boca Raton Regional Hospital in an age discrimination failure to hire case. Additionally, the Practice Group was also recognized for its success in representing its professional employer organization clients in a whistle-blower case.

James Bramnick, chair of the Akerman Labor and Employment Practice Group, was quoted, "We've had a terrific amount of success in the last year in the courtroom. But what we like to do the most for our clients is prevent the problem from happening in the first place. Keeping our clients out of trouble; that's the real goal here."
