Press Release

Commercial Real Estate Executives Gather in New York to Examine Emerging Market Trends and Investment Opportunities

Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients across the Americas, today announced an Akerman Real Estate Briefing featuring a discussion by Peter Linneman, founding chairman of The Wharton School's Real Estate Department. An intimate group of senior real estate executives will gather at The New York Palace on May 22 to attend the Akerman Briefing and resume conversations that took place at the fifth annual Akerman U.S. Real Estate Summit in March.

"While the commercial real estate sector has seen an upturn, volatile financial markets and government policies continue to create uncertainty among industry leaders," said Richard Bezold, chair of Akerman's Real Estate Practice Group. "The Akerman Real Estate Briefing will provide our clients and other industry executives in New York the opportunity to discuss emerging trends and investment opportunities, while extending the conversations from our recent national summit."

Each year since the real estate downturn, executives from the nation's leading investors, developers, REITs and lenders have gathered at the Akerman U.S. Real Estate Summit in Miami to engage in peer-to-peer discussions about the issues most critical to business leaders today and the forces expected to impact the industry tomorrow. An exclusive group will continue the experience during the Akerman Real Estate Briefing in New York, with Linneman exploring the evolving market forces disrupting the industry today. Participants also will compare new observations of the market with the results of the 2014 Akerman Real Estate Industry Outlook Survey released in March.

"At this year's Akerman U.S. Real Estate Summit, industry insiders discussed the parallels between New York and Miami — two of the nation's most influential cities in urban redevelopment," said Steven Polivy, chair of Akerman's Economic Development & Incentives Practice and New York office managing partner. "The Akerman Real Estate Briefing will explore these and other global gateway markets through the insights of one of the leading strategic thinkers in the real estate industry, and examine new challenges and opportunities that are influencing policy, development and innovation for American cities."
