Firm Climbs 'Diversity Scorecard' for Second Consecutive Year

Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients across the Americas, today announced that it has advanced its ranking among the nation's leading law firms for diversity for a second consecutive year. The firm rose 10 spots to number 40 on The American Lawyer's annual Diversity Scorecard and ranked no. 6 in the U.S. for Hispanic lawyers, a testament to Akerman's ongoing hiring and professional development practices for a diverse group of men and women.

"It is an honor to once again be distinguished as one of the nation's most diverse law firms," said Andrew Smulian, Akerman Chairman and CEO. "At Akerman, we believe that diversity in backgrounds, talents and ideas enriches the quality of experience for our clients, our people and ultimately our community as well."

The Diversity Scorecard is an annual ranking of the nation's 250 largest and highest-grossing law firms. The diversity score for each firm was calculated by adding the minority percentage of U.S. attorneys at the firms surveyed to the minority percentage of U.S. partners at those firms.
