Press Release

Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients across the Americas, today announced that Carrie Ann Wozniak, a partner in the Litigation Practice Group in Orlando, was among Gov. Rick Scott's 27 judicial appointees for nine judicial nominating commissions. Wozniak was appointed to the Fifth District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission from a list of nominees submitted by the Florida Bar for a term beginning July 14, 2014, and ending July 1, 2018.

"We congratulate Carrie Ann for this well-deserved appointment, which speaks volumes about her legal acumen and professional excellence," said Lawrence Rochefort, chair of Akerman's Litigation Practice Group. "Not only is she an outstanding litigator and ally to our clients, Carrie Ann also embodies the qualities of service and dedication needed to sit on a judicial nominating commission."

Wozniak focuses her practice on appellate law and commercial litigation. A former Florida Supreme Court law clerk, she represents parties through the appellate process, including direct appeals, interlocutory appeals and extraordinary writs. Wozniak also has experience prosecuting and defending cases in both federal and state trial courts on behalf of a diverse spectrum of clients, including financial institutions, commercial landlords and tenants, real estate developers and builders, and other commercial entities throughout the United States.

"I am absolutely thrilled and all the while humbled by the opportunity to join such a prominent commission and continue Akerman's tradition of service in the community," said Wozniak. "I look forward to working alongside other prominent legal professionals, as we tackle the work ahead within the Fifth District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission."

Wozniak is part of several Akerman lawyers who have served at the state and federal level, at times even in full-time positions. Among the latest lawyers to serve in or join the public sector are Akerman's Samantha Schosberg Feuer, who was elected Circuit Court Judge for Palm Beach County, and Heather MacDougall, who was confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as Commissioner of the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
