Daniel Jacobson, a partner with Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients across the Americas, recently joined a trade delegation to Spain to foster economic ties between South Florida and Europe. Jacobson also has been meeting with Bolivian officials to facilitate international trade and development with emerging economies across Latin America.
The trade mission to Spain was part of the Global Linkage program, an initiative sponsored by the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce (GMCC), which promotes international trade and development. Jacobson was the chair of the GMCC's Global Linkage Committee for this mission and now leads the organization's international committee. Mission sponsors included GMCC, The City of Miami, The Beacon Council and the Spain-U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Among the delegates who traveled to Spain was City of Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado, City Commissioner Frank Carollo, Sheldon Anderson, the chair and Larry Williams, CEO of The Beacon Council, as well as representatives from Enterprise Florida, Florida International University and other professional and business organizations. The delegation participated in the ceremony commemorating a sister city agreement between Madrid and the City of Miami, a briefing by the U.S. Embassy in Madrid, and also had meetings with representatives from various governmental and business organizations in Spain.
In addition to the Spain mission, Jacobson participated as chair of GMCC's International Committee in discussions with the general manager and manager of finance and economics from the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Cruz, Bolivia. The parties discussed opportunities to collaborate and considered reciprocal missions to facilitate greater business opportunities between the two cities.
