In The News

George W. Powell Jr., Akerman's Naples office managing partner, joined the board of directors of The Counselors of Real Estate (CRE), an international organization for senior real estate and land-matter professionals. Media coverage appeared in CoStar and Naples Daily News, among others. Both stories reported he will help the organization provide information resources, along with opportunities for professional development, knowledge sharing and networking.

For almost four decades, Powell has protected real property rights and focused his practice on real property taxation, eminent domain/property condemnation, land use and entitlements, and real estate transactions. He has advised clients on real estate issues, including real estate valuation matters. Powell has been representing property owners in ad valorem tax matters in real and tangible personal property, property condemnation, business profit loss damages, Florida Homestead and Religious, Charitable and Non-Profit Exemption issues, real property title issues and transactions.

CoStar wrote, "Powell is the only new member of the board that serves 1,100 members worldwide, all of whom hold CRE designations. CREs are linked to one another through a commitment to integrity, competence, community, trust, and service, while adhering to a strict code of ethics and standards of professional practice."
