Akerman is the recipient of the 2014 Corporate Partner Award given by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) for the firm's significant contributions in support of initiatives that will bring hope to hundreds of thousands of blood cancer patients and their families. Inspired by two Akerman partners whose lives and loved ones have been directly affected by blood cancers, lawyers and staff in the firm's Orlando and Jacksonville offices have played an active role in advancing the mission of LLS in its fight to end blood cancer through participation in several key fundraising events. The firm has also donated critical administrative resources to LLS, and Akerman partners Russell Hale and Robert Slavkin have taken on leadership and advocacy roles to help expand the organization's impact in the community.
