National media, including The Wall Street Journal, MSN and Miami Herald, among others, quoted Richard Milstein on the landmark federal court decision that allows same-sex marriage in Florida. Clarifying a previous order, U.S. District Judge Robert L. Hinkle ruled that all Florida clerks are required by the U.S. Constitution to issue marriage licenses to any couple. Milstein explained that now all marriages inside and outside the state of Florida will be recognized, and that gay and lesbian couples will be granted spousal rights at both the federal and state level, such as Social Security benefits.
