Practice Update

By Carolyn R. Haslam and Heather M. Himes

The Osceola County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) voted unanimously to approve the Mobility Fee Ordinance on March 16, 2015, with an implementation date of October 1, 2015. The transportation mobility fee and related administrative fee will be assessed for any new development within the unincorporated area of the County, upon issuance of a building permit or tenant occupancy permit. The new mobility fee rates are as shown in the attached Full Rate Fee Schedule.

However, a reduced fee (approximately 70% of the full mobility fee) will be charged initially, as shown in the attached Reduced Fee Schedule. If the County passes the proposed Transportation Sales Surtax referendum in November, the reduced rate will become permanent. Otherwise, the reduced rate ends on December 31, 2015.
