Foreign investment trends highlighted in sixth annual Akerman U.S. Real Estate Industry Outlook Survey were reported in an Inman Media article titled, "Chinese, Brazilian Investors Target U.S. Multifamily." The article reported foreign capital from Latin America and Asia is among the top three sources of commercial real estate debt and equity this year. The Akerman Survey indicated that the multifamily sector continues to be the most attractive market for foreign investments and a surge of EB-5 immigrant investors has fueled a new era of high-rise development, typically via mezzanine debt contributions. The publication quoted Real Estate Practice Group Chair Richard Bezold, who noted that despite the strengthening of the U.S. dollar and volatile conditions abroad, American cities remain a top investment destination for global real estate investors.

"As 2015 unfolds, the industry is seeing an all-time record of institutional equity and global equity competing for core real estate assets," Bezold told Inman.
