Naples Office Managing Partner George Powell was among a select group of distinguished industry leaders nominated to serve on the national Commercial Legislation and Regulatory Advisory Board of the National Association of Realtors (NAR). The Board is charged to develop, communicate and advocate public policy on behalf of NAR's commercial members, while protecting and enhancing the right to own, use and transfer real property. Along with other board members, Powell will identify and analyze emerging legislative and regulatory issues that affect commercial real estate. Board members also monitor and analyze current and prospective housing issues, which influence federal multifamily housing programs and recommend appropriate policies.
For almost four decades, Powell has protected real property rights and focused his practice on real property taxation, eminent domain/property condemnation, land use and entitlements, and real estate transactions. He has advised clients on real estate issues, including real estate valuation matters. Powell has been representing property owners in ad valorem tax matters in real and tangible personal property, property condemnation, business profit loss damages, Florida Homestead and Religious, Charitable and Non-Profit Exemption issues, real property title issues and transactions. He also serves on the board of directors of The Counselors of Real Estate.
