Steven Polivy, New York Office Managing Partner and Economic Development & Incentives Practice Chair, spoke with Crain's New York Business about the future of investor regional centers, a pivotal component of the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program. In a story titled, "Popular Visa Program Used to Finance Development Projects Gets New Life," the publication reported on the real estate financing implications behind the congressional reauthorization of what many view as an attractive equity source. Crain's New York Business reported that elected officials long worked to amend and reauthorize EB-5 regional centers. With an extension approved until Dec. 11, lawmaker negotiations will continue and questions remain. Polivy explained how any legislative changes to regional centers may alter the landscape for real estate developers and foreign investors that apply for EB-5 visas to attain permanent residency.
