Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients across the Americas, was among the top Central Florida fundraisers for a third consecutive year in support of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Light The Night Walk held on Oct. 8. Since 2013, Akerman's Orlando lawyers and staff have raised nearly $40,000 for the annual event.

LLS' Light The Night Walk brings together families and communities to honor blood cancer survivors, as well as those lost to the diseases. The event helps shine a light on the importance of finding cures and providing access to treatments for blood cancer patients.

LLS is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. The organization offers public health education and counseling to patients and families affected by blood cancer, including leukemia, which is the most common type of childhood cancer.
