Press Release

Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients across the Americas, continues to standout as one of the best law firms for female lawyers. The National Law Journal ranked the firm 40th in the United States on its inaugural Women In Law Scorecard, based on the percentage of female lawyers firm wide and within the partnership ranks.

Law360 recently distinguished Akerman as one of the top 10 BigLaw firms that are taking active efforts to achieve greater gender parity. According to its 2016 Glass Ceiling report, Akerman continues to outperform the industry average, with women comprising nearly 40 percent of its total lawyers. For at least three years, Akerman has outpaced the industry average for the number of female partners promoted.

Akerman is at the forefront of innovative diversity and inclusion practices. It was one of the first national law firms to join the OnRamp Fellowship, a pilot program for experienced women lawyers returning to practice after an extended hiatus. Last week, Akerman was among only nine teams to participate in the inaugural Women in Law Hackathon, a SharkTank style pitch competition created by the Diversity Lab in collaboration with Stanford Law School and Bloomberg Law. The program brought legal leaders from across the country together to generate innovative ideas that can help retain and advance experienced women in the legal profession.
