Firm Promotes Awareness of Children Displaced by the Global Refugee Crisis

Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients and communities across the Americas, today stands with the TENT Alliance to commemorate the efforts of humanitarian aid workers around the world and bring awareness to the millions of children effected by the refugee crisis. The TENT Alliance is a nonprofit network of global influencers that focuses on addressing the alarming growth of displaced communities and individuals.

Akerman was among the first national firms to join the TENT Alliance after the organization launched in January 2016. Through the TENT Alliance, Akerman lawyers provide pro bono representation of children facing removal proceedings after seeking asylum in the United States. They also work to expand legal protections for the thousands of immigrant youth who have fled warfare, gang violence, human trafficking, or abuse and neglect in their home countries.

Akerman is ranked by the Financial Times among the nation's most innovative law firms for social responsibility in recognition for its unique partnership with the National Court Appointed Special Advocates Association (CASA) during the Akerman Give Back Campaign. The firm also is the recipient of the 2016 Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation Award, the highest recognition of pro bono legal service by the world's largest association of independent law firms.
