Carlos E. Mendez-Penate Joins Akerman Senterfitt in New York
Veteran in Latin American Business and Finance Brings More Than 30 Years of Experience to Akerman

Akerman Senterfitt today announced that Carlos E. Mendez -Penate has joined the firm’s New York office and Corporate practice, as shareholder. Mr. Mendez -Penate has over thirty years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, financings, debt offerings and private equity transactions, with a specific focus in Latin America. He joins Akerman from Thompson & Knight, where he was the founding managing partner of its New York office.

Mr. Mendez -Penate has experience in a wide range of corporate issues, including: mergers and acquisitions, public and private equity and debt financings and restructurings. He has deep experience with the financial services, banking, telecommunications, agribusiness and energy sectors.
Mr. Mendez -Penate earned his bachelor of arts, summa cum laude, from Yale University, and his juris doctorate from Yale Law School, where he was an Editor of the Yale Law Journal.
Mr. Mendez -Penate is admitted to the Connecticut, New York and Florida bars.
