Richard A. Lafont Joins Akerman Senterfitt in New York

Akerman Senterfitt today announced that Richard A. Lafont has joined the firm’s New York office and Litigation practice as a shareholder. Mr. Lafont has over eighteen years of experience representing clients in a wide variety of commercial litigation matters in both state and federal courts. Prior to joining Akerman, Mr. Lafont was counsel with international law firm Mayer Brown LLP.
Mr. Lafont is a trial lawyer with a broad background in breach of contract, securities fraud, lender liability, business tort, employment contract, unfair competition, bankruptcy, construction and arbitration law. His experience focuses on the financial services, banking and real estate sectors.

Mr. Lafont earned his bachelor of arts, from Harvard University, and his juris doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he was an Editor of the Journal of International Business Law. He is admitted to the state bars of New York and New Jersey, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of New York and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
