New York Corporate Partner Dale Cohen recently authored a U.S. Comparative Guide in The Legal 500.  In this Guide, Dale provides an overview of U.S. laws and regulations relevant to the franchise industry and details various complexities and challenges that may lie ahead.

"Employment-related issues, such as joint employer liability, misclassification of independent contractors, and laws governing minimum wages continue to threaten the franchise model in the United States," writes Dale about one of the many issues she covers in the Guide.

In a later item addressing data privacy, a growing concern across industries including franchising, Dale writes, "There is no single comprehensive authority that regulates data protection in the United States. Instead, data protection issues are addressed by a patch-work of applicable federal, state and local regulations – all of which continue to rapidly evolve."

Dale is the Exclusive Contributor for The Legal 500 United States Franchise & Licensing Comparative Guide.
