Press Release

Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm, represented the Cruise Division of MSC Group, owners of MSC Cruises the third largest cruise brand globally, in the execution of a €350 million contract for the design and construction of a new multi-level, state-of-the-art cruise terminal located at PortMiami.

The Akerman team representing MSC was led by Fort Lauderdale Office Managing Partner Leslie Miller Tomczak and Real Estate Partner Stacy Bercun Bohm, Distressed Property Practice Co-Chair Carol Faber, and Real Estate Partner Joni Coffey.

The Akerman team served as primary construction counsel for the design-build contract drafting negotiations. The team also assisted on several land leasing, port, and financing matters. The project will serve three cruise terminals, two berths for vessels with a capacity of up to 7,000 passengers each; parking, intermodal areas, and roadway infrastructure; and provisioning and ground transportation facilities.

“We are honored to have successfully represented our client in contracting this remarkable new cruise terminal,” said Tomczak. “Our team is eager to see the company’s plans come into fruition and look forward to our continued work with them.”
