Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients across the Americas, today announced that Ricardo Hollingsworth has joined the firm’s Corporate Practice Group in New York as a partner. Extensively experienced in institutional investments and fund formation, Hollingsworth joins Akerman from an international law firm, where he served as co-chair of the private equity and real estate fund formation practice.

Hollingsworth represents private equity and venture capital firms in connection with their fund formation and portfolio company investments. He also represents institutional investors, including foundations, endowments, public and private pension plans and insurance companies in connection with their investments in alternative assets, direct investments, and secondary transactions. He has extensive experience in private equity and venture capital transactions, mergers and acquisitions, corporate partnering transactions, strategic investments and corporate finance, including secured and unsecured debt financing transactions.

Before entering law school, Hollingsworth served as a captain in the U.S. Air Force for six years. He attained a B.A. from the University of Cincinnati and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. Hollingsworth served as clerk for the Honorable Joseph W. Hatchett of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Over the last year, Akerman’s Corporate Practice Group has expanded its national footprint with the addition of 21 lawyers, including nine partners in Austin, Chicago, Miami, New York, Orlando and Washington, D.C. Recent corporate lateral partners include Barbara Edwards, Peter Eccles, Karyn Koiffman, Michael O’Brien, Robert Winner, Ted Rosen, Robert Stein, Todd Reed, and Catherine Harris.
