LaKeisha Marsh, chair of Akerman’s Higher Education and Collegiate Athletics Practice, commented on the legislation that could potentially impact Illinois in 2020.
In Law360’s article titled, “Illinois Legislation To Watch In 2020,” Marsh elaborated on possible follow-up bills stemming from the state’s newly enacted cannabis law. “That will be a huge thing. There’s a lot to watch for with that. There’s going to be some wait-and-see, and some immediate cleanup if something didn’t work as planned.”
Marsh additionally elaborated on the departure of Illinois Senate President John Cullerton following a 10-year tenure as leader, noting that it will leave an opening for an influential figure in Illinois politics. “Firms and lawyers alike are going to want to be careful with who they’re going to side with.”
