In a new Texas Lawyer column, Corporate Partner Marc Adesso makes the argument for why so many companies are relocating and starting up in the Lone Star State, and why more publicly traded companies should do the same. This latest installment of an ongoing series of columns written by Akerman lawyers provides a recent transplant's perspective on what's driving Texas' business growth.

"When weighing all the factors—tax burden, talent pool, regulatory environment, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and even civic ethos—Texas is likely the best state in the country for a company to go public, and continue to operate as a public company," Adesso writes.

Additionally, Akerman is hosting the Austin Public Company Forum on Feb. 1. This half-day complimentary program will feature timely and practical guidance on the latest developments in corporate and securities matters impacting public company executives and in-house counsel.
