In The News

Akerman Government Affairs and Public Policy Partner Matthew A. Goldstein authored an article for Reuters regarding a 2023 end-of-year flurry of Congressional reports and pending bills focused on the Chinese Government’s use of open research environments in the United States to circumvent export controls and other national security laws. As discussed in the article, various proposals set forth in the reports and pending bills seek to limit open research environments and expand U.S. Government oversight of partnerships with Chinese entities. These pending measures raise the potential for legislative changes that can significantly impact colleges and universities in 2024.

The article, “Congress Focuses on China Risk at U.S. Colleges and Universities,” also published in Westlaw Today.
