Press Release

We are proud to announce that Tax Partner Robert Wall received the "Citizen Lawyer Award" from the North Carolina Bar Association. The award recognizes attorneys who volunteer their time for worthy community or civic causes to improve the quality of life of those in their local or statewide communities, as well as those who serve as role models to other lawyers in service-oriented activities.

Wall is based in Akerman's Winston-Salem office, where his many leadership roles and volunteer work include serving on the advisory board of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Piedmont Triad and the local executive board for Walk to End Alzheimer's. He serves as the treasurer of his church, St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Winston-Salem, where he volunteers with an initiative to deliver backpacks to elementary-aged students to address hunger. He is also a member of the Community Impact Team for Akerman's Winston-Salem office, which is involved in several fundraising and charitable events including the firm's American Red Cross blood drive. Wall is also a proud member of the RJ Reynolds High School Booster Club and frequently volunteers with the school's athletic programs and with local youth soccer programs.

Wall focuses his legal practice on representing entities and individuals in complex tax matters. He advises clients on matters related to federal and state tax laws. He advocates on behalf of clients before the Internal Revenue Service and state departments of revenue, including audits and appeals from audit determinations, compliance, collections, and U.S. Tax Court matters. Wall gives his time and leadership to several efforts and organizations, including serving as a member of the North Carolina Pro Bono Society and the North Carolina Bar Association Task Force on Integration, Equity, and Equal Justice.
