Tax Practice Group Co-Chair David Blum, State and Local Tax Practice Chair Michael Bowen, and tax partner Stefi George are speaking at the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT) Annual Conference in Grapevine, TX. IPT's Annual Conference is one of the year’s most popular educational tax programs due to its comprehensive content and national attendees. 

David Blum will moderate a panel, “How to Successfully Manage Tax Audits and Appeals,” that includes Stefi George and Walgreen Co.’s Director of State Tax Audits & Appeals, Jennifer Zimmerman. The panel will lay out best practices to manage corporate tax audits effectively, explore audit tension points and strategies for building consensus with the auditor, and evaluating when and how to appeal a tax assessment.

Michael Bowen will be joined by Julia Owen, the Vice President of Tax at C&S Wholesale Grocers Inc., to present a breakout session entitled “Bundles of Joy? The Differing Treatment of Bundled Transactions Across State and Local Tax Jurisdictions,” which discusses the complex web of tests employed by state and local tax authorities to analyze bundled transactions.
