Emily Patajo will speak on a panel titled "Wage and Hour Basics," at the 2024 New Employment Practitioner Conference presented by the Labor and Employment Law Section of the California Lawyers Association. The panel will discuss the sources of wage and hour laws, including the federal Fair Labor Standards Act, the California Labor Code, and Industrial Welfare Commission Wage Orders. Topics to be reviewed also include rules regarding misclassification of employees, meal and rest periods, expenses, final pay, off-the-clock work, deductions, and common mistakes for employers to avoid.
