Akerman is a sponsor of the George Edgecomb Bar Association (GEBA) Annual Scholarship Banquet. The event features the Honorable Judge Glenda Hatchett as its keynote speaker. The dinner raises funds for GEBA's continued commitment to not only the advancement of minorities in the legal profession, but to increasing the legal profession's involvement in both community affairs and public service. During the banquet GEBA will also recognize dynamic high school students who have exhibited excellence in both the classroom and the community.
