Akerman is a sponsor of the 35th Annual Scholarship Banquet hosted by the George Edgecomb Bar Association (GEBA). GEBA has dedicated itself to the advancement of minorities in the legal profession and to increasing the profession's involvement in both community affairs and public service. This year, GEBA is partnering with Moffitt Cancer Center's newly created George Edgecomb Society to bring awareness and raise funds to address cancer health disparities faced in the Tampa community. Dick Vitale is slated as the event keynote speaker, and sits on the Board of Directors of the V Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to finding a cure for cancer.
