Atlanta Office Managing Partner Jason Lichtstein will speak in a session titled, "How the Rise in the Electric Vehicle Network & Renewable Energy Tax Credits Can Transform Brownfields” at the 2023 Southeast Brownfields Conference & EPA New Grantee Workshop. 

The session will offer an overview and discussion into how the massive rise in electric vehicles (EVs), the expansion of the EV charging network, and the Inflation Reduction Act's (IRA) renewable energy tax credits and Brownfield tax credit bonus are poised to advance the cleanup and repurposing of Brownfield sites in the Southeast U.S.

In terms of EVs, the session will lay out the rapid rise in EVs, EV investments in the South, and both the current and expected expansion of the EV charging network in the Southeast and its potential impact on gas station and fueling sites. 

In terms of the IRA, the session will highlight how Brownfields can and are being transformed into new clean energy uses, laying out the key Brownfield tax credit eligibility criteria and examining the latest in IRS/Treasury Department guidance addressing how to use the tax credits.
