Akerman is a sponsor of the 2014 JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. Each year, over 900,000 people "walk for a cure" at 200 JDRF Walk locations worldwide, with the goal of raising funds for diabetes research. Since its founding in 1970, JDRF has awarded more than $1.6 billion to diabetes research.
