Akerman is a sponsor of the Mortgage Bankers Associaton's (MBA) Regulatory Conference in Washington, D.C. Kathleen "Kitty" Ryan will lead the breakout session titled, "Litigation Forum/Compliance Track: Fair Lending." The session will explore recent actions and developments in the fair lending arena. Kitty will also speak on the "Compliance Imperative: Servicing Compliance," panel. That discussion will take a closer look at recent compliance developments of particular importance to servicers, including Successors in Interest and changes to the Periodic Statments in Bankruptcy. 

Thomas Kearney will also be a speaker on the "Regtech Fintech Track: Compliance Challenges of Alternative Communications Channels," panel. His session will discuss how the increasing reliance on mobile devices has changed the way consumers expect to interact with loan originators and servicers. The session will explore compliance challenges that arise when seeking to meet borrowers through their preferred communication channel or by adding process efficiencies to the loan manufacturing process.
