Pedro Freyre, Chair of Akerman’s International Practice will speak at the Intercultural Human Rights Law Review’s 18th annual symposium, entitled “The Corporate Duty: Global Agents for Human Rights?” The objective of this symposium is to identify and discuss the core issues, including areas of conflict between transnational corporations and various national jurisdictions. The exploitation of foreign communities, harmful competition, and the lack of risk-management embedded in corporate practices call for awareness, action, and accountability.
This Symposium will explore prospective solutions, including the desirability for adopting binding laws and compliance review by transnational corporations.
