Akerman's Tax Practice Group Co-Chair, David Blum and Tax Partner Lorie Fale will speak at the 2024 Forum on U.S. State and Local Taxes for European Companies presented by the Council on State Taxation (COST) and the Global Business Alliance (GBA). 

David Blum will present an overview of the decentralized U.S. tax system—including federal taxes and state income, sales, and other state taxes—in comparison to European tax systems and discuss their impact on the competitiveness of European companies doing business in the U.S.

Lorie Fale’s panel, "Wayfair at Six," will focus on sales and use tax issues impacting European companies doing business in the U.S. and address changes in the sales tax landscape following the 2018 Wayfair decision.

A lunchtime presentation will explore the policy implications of recent federal legislation and proposed legislation that could impact U.S. operations and provide an update on the recent OECD/G20 guidance on the application of Pillar Two global minimum tax rules.

The one day, complimentary forum will offer the opportunity for attendees to interact with the presenters; it will also feature a continental breakfast and evening reception.
