Akerman is a sponsor of the Tahirih Justice Center 22nd Annual Gala: Journey to Justice. Since Tahirih opened its doors in 1997, they have assisted 25,000 women and girls fleeing gender-based human rights abuses, such as domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, honor crimes, and forced marriage. The signature gala event is the most important vehicle through which Tahirih raises critical funds to keep their doors open to thousands of women and girls in the local community and field offices across the nation who long to be free from violence and rebuild their lives in safety and with dignity.
