Seminars and Conferences

Presented by Akerman's Labor & Employment Practice Group
All professionals who deal with employment issues must understand the changes to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This interactive breakfast seminar, presented by Arlene Kline, delves into the practical applications of the amendments to Title I – the employment section – of the ADA, which clarified Congress’ intention that the law be interpreted broadly and that the EEOC's prior regulations were inconsistent with that intent. Attendees will obtain guidance derived from case law that has come in its wake and understand the impact of the broadened definition of what constitutes a "disability," which has resulted in an increased number of claims being filed. This seminar provides the tools to understand the implications of the amendments in your own workplace and to properly address requests for employment accommodations and claims of disability discrimination.
