Akerman is a sponsor of the National Association of Women Judges' 34th Annual Conference. The conference targets both men and women, including appellate, trial, tribal, administrative law judges, state and federal judges, and members from every state in the nation. Since its formation in 1979, the National Association of Women Judges (NAWJ) has inspired and led the American judiciary in achieving fairness and equality for vulnerable populations. NAWJ provides an opportunity for judges to meet and discuss professional issues of mutual concern in a supportive atmosphere.
