Jim McNeil is the chair of Akerman's Residential Development Practice, leading a highly experienced team that represents national homebuilders, developers, and private equity funds in the development of master-planned and mixed-use residential communities across Florida and the Southeast, including Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. Jim advises clients throughout every stage of the real estate development process, including property acquisition, land use entitlements, development, and disposition.
Jim is recognized for providing pragmatic, strategic, and forward-thinking counsel. He manages all the transactional aspects of real estate deals, as well as due diligence, land use approvals, and entitlement procurement.
Jim regularly negotiates complex development agreements, utility agreements, and land bank agreements with development partners. His comprehensive approach ensures clients receive effective guidance on regulatory compliance, development risk mitigation, and project approvals.
Active in the real estate and development community, Jim is a member of the Greater Orlando Builders Association and has previously served on the Board of Directors and as Associate Vice President.
