A team of Akerman lawyers in the firm's Miami office participated in a basketball tournament hosted by NBA Hall of Famer Alonzo Mourning to raise critical funds in support of the Overtown Youth Center. Competing against more than over 30 local area law firms in South Florida, team Akerman came in third place to help raise over $50,000 for the organization's after school programs and other educational initiatives for Miami's inner-city youth. This first annual event received media attention from Miami FOX News affiliate WSVN.
