Press Release

Akerman represented developer GT USA in a $90 million Lake County, Fla., land deal this month that could bring more than 1,500 homes to the area. Akerman Residential Development Practice Chair Jim McNeil and attorneys Troy Finnegan and Carolyn Haslam represented GT USA in the sale of nearly 518 acres of fully entitled land to Pulte Home Company and its land banker, Jen Florida 55.

"It was an honor working with GT USA and Pulte on this deal, which is one of the largest land acquisitions in Florida over the past several years," McNeil said.

Akerman's Real Estate Practice Group is recognized as a national tier one law firm for real estate law by Best Lawyers. The group advises investors, developers, builders, lenders, retailers, owners, and corporate end users, often in high-profile matters.

"I want to thank Jim and his team for their excellent counsel during this process," said Doug Bruk, GT USA Chief Operating Officer. "This is a significant project that our firm devoted two and a half years to, so having experienced, highly driven legal advisors by our side was invaluable."

Founded through a partnership between two of Canada's most prolific builders, Greenpark Group and Treasure Hill, GT USA is recognized for its visionary leadership in sustainability and innovation. Together, the group has dozens of low-rise, mid-rise, and high-rise projects underway throughout the United States, Canada, and Italy and has developed and built more than 80,000 homes over the past 55 years.
