Akerman is pleased to announce that Matt Squire has joined the firm as Chief Financial Officer, bringing more than two decades of experience in the legal, technology services, and entertainment industries.
Squire has served as CFO for national law firms and held senior finance roles at leading global companies. He is recognized for advancing operational efficiency, implementing technology-driven financial solutions, and driving sustained strategic growth.
As CFO, Squire will lead strategic financial planning, reporting, and process improvements to optimize the firm’s operations and support data-driven decision-making. He will work closely with Akerman’s leadership to build on the firm’s strong record of growth and continually elevate its commitment to innovation and service excellence.
“Matt is joining Akerman at a dynamic moment for our firm as we advance the firm’s national growth strategy, aligning with robust client demand,” said Scott Meyers, Chairman and CEO of Akerman. “His financial acumen and innovative mindset will strengthen our ability to drive exceptional client value and achieve our strategic goals. The breadth of his experience across the legal industry and other sectors gives him a unique perspective and makes him an exceptional addition to our leadership team.”
Throughout his career, Squire has overseen large-scale financial operations, complex projects, and business transformation initiatives. He served as CFO at prominent law firms, including Constangy and Nossaman, where he designed and executed strategies that enhanced growth and performance.
Prior to his career in the legal industry, Squire served as controller at a technology services company, and he managed finance operations at Warner Bros. Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox, and Sony Pictures Entertainment. This cross-industry perspective provides him with valuable insight into business transformation, change management, and client-focused innovation — skills that will benefit both Akerman’s clients and the firm as a whole.
“I am excited to join Akerman, a firm known for its collaborative, forward-thinking culture and its dedication to client service,” said Squire. “I look forward to leveraging my experience in legal and business finance to advance Akerman’s strategic objectives and to deliver even greater value and innovation for clients.”
