Press Release

Akerman Chairman & CEO Scott Meyers, Intellectual Property Practice Group Chair Brian Bianco, and Government Affairs and Public Policy Practice Group Chair LaKeisha Marsh have all been named "Notable Gen X Leaders in Accounting, Consulting, & Law" by Crain’s Chicago Business. The program recognizes industry leaders who are members of Generation X (born from 1965 to 1980) and have made significant contributions to the law through their leadership, dedication to pro bono work, civic involvement, and professional excellence.

As Chairman and CEO, Meyers leads the strategic direction and growth of the firm. Working within the firm’s collaborative, inclusive, and high-trust culture, Meyers drives initiatives that empower Akerman’s lawyers and professionals to deliver effective, creative, and sound legal solutions to the firm’s clients. He previously served as Akerman’s Managing Partner, overseeing day-to-day operations across the firm’s 24 offices and working with firm leadership to execute strategic initiatives. He founded the firm’s Chicago office and served as its Office Managing Partner, guiding office growth by more than sevenfold since opening in February 2014, while also managing his broad-based litigation practice.

Bianco, in addition to his leadership role, is an intellectual property litigator and registered patent lawyer. He represents clients in U.S. federal courts across the country in complex patent, trademark, and trade dress disputes. With a degree and extensive background in electrical engineering, he has successfully represented clients in cases involving such technologies as semiconductor processing, medical devices, fiber optic telecommunications, wireless communications, GPS technology, mechanical and electrical systems, electronics, computer hardware, software, and internet protocols.

Marsh leads a bipartisan team of professionals providing strategic counsel on policy and regulatory issues in the United States. With a comprehensive legal background serving the higher education sector, including as an NCAA staff member, Marsh also serves as the chair of Akerman’s Higher Education and Collegiate Athletics Practice. She represents colleges, universities, and related institutions on federal and state regulatory compliance, accreditation, state licensure, institutional governance, and NCAA compliance-related matters and collegiate sports matters, including name, image, and likeness.
