Akerman LLP has once again advanced its position among the nation's largest law firms to 76th on The National Law Journal's "NLJ 500" list, based on the number of lawyers. The new ranking is a reflection of Akerman's continued success in lateral recruitment. The firm achieved its fifth consecutive year of record-breaking growth during the 2015 fiscal year. Headcount grew to an all-time high of 620 lawyers across 20 U.S. offices, increasing by 150 lawyers since 2010.

Akerman recently announced its plan to more than double its physical footprint in Chicago, after growing fivefold from eight to 46 lawyers in less than two years of the office opening. In New York, the second largest office in the firm, Akerman has grown to nearly 90 lawyers and other business professionals, tripling headcount in just two and a half years and nearly doubling its office space over the same period. Most recently, the firm moved its largest office to Brickell City Centre – coined the Rockefeller Center of Miami – becoming the largest law firm in the heart of the financial center of the Americas. The momentum is also seen in Los Angeles, where Akerman has added 10 lawyers since last year.
